Toni is part of the investment team and works closely with Clarien Bank and other portfolio companies. She has amassed over 15 years’ experience in credit risk, investment and commercial banking. Prior to joining Portland Private Equity, Toni was head of Corporate Underwriting and Portfolio Management at National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited. Toni holds both a B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of the West Indies.

Rob helped launch AIC Caribbean Fund and is a Managing Partner of Portland Private Equity. He is an accomplished business person with a strong background in corporate strategy and operations. He was formerly an executive at Loblaw Companies, Canada’s largest retailer, and led the creation of a direct bank at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He has served on the boards of Columbus International and Advantage General, and is currently on the board of the National Commercial Bank of Jamaica.

Joe has over twenty years experience in negotiating, structuring, and closing a wide variety of transaction types. He is a Managing Partner of Portland Private Equity, in addition to his investment origination and portfolio company responsibilities, he looks after the financial operations of AIC Caribbean Fund. Joe founded a successful valuation practice earlier in his career and is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator by training.

Pedro has over 14 years of Investment Banking experience, having advised clients on more than 40 M&A, Capital Markets, and Debt transactions with aggregate value in excess of $40 billion. Prior to joining Portland, Pedro lead the investment banking divisions first for Citibank in Colombia and later for UBS in Colombia, Central America, and the Caribbean. Pedro also worked for over 8 years as part of the IB teams at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Stephens in New York. He currently serves on the board of Merqueo and as an observer on IGA. Pedro holds an MBA, Magna Cum Laude, from Babson College.

Doug has over nineteen years of private equity and venture capital experience. Prior to joining Portland Private Equity he was responsible for co-founding and leading two successful investment management firms. At Portland, he has primary responsibility for investor relations and is a board member of several portfolio companies including Merqueo, Facey Telecom, InterEnergy Holdings, and Productive Business Solutions. He is a member of the fund’s Investment Committee and involved in all aspects of the fund’s management.

Ricardo has more than 10 years experience in the Caribbean banking sector providing corporate banking and capital markets solutions to clients across the Caribbean region. Prior to joining Portland Private Equity, Ricardo held the role of Associate Director- Investment Banking with a leading regional commercial bank where he was responsible for leading the structuring and successful placement of several capital markets transactions. He holds a Masters of Science degree in economics from the University of the West Indies and is a CFA Charter holder.

Hülya has been an international sustainability expert since 2008. At our firm, she is responsible for the evaluation, guidance and monitoring of investee companies’ environmental and social performance. Hülya is also responsible for our development impact approach and assessment, and chairs the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She also consults for the World Bank/IFC evaluating the E&S performance of financial institutions. Prior to joining Portland, Hülya was a senior consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Germany. She advised companies in improving their sustainability performance, and evaluated international development cooperation projects.

Lorraine is a licensed Paralegal who has been working with the private equity team since 2008 and has various responsibilities in the legal, corporate secretarial and compliance areas. Throughout her legal career she has worked on numerous transactions with an aggregate value of over CAD 1 billion. In addition to her role with private equity, for over 11 years Lorraine has also worked for companies within the Portland Holdings conglomerate.
