In 2010, Portland Private Equity was introduced by one of its limited partners to MAS Equity Partners (“MEP”), A Colombian private equity firm. MEP invited Portland to participate in the creation of Grupo IGA through the merger of two of its portfolio companies. Grupo IGA is a dominant food service platform in the Colombian market and has some of Colombia’s most iconic brands, including Kokoriko, Andrés Carnes de Res, and Mimo’s. The merger will introduce administrative and operational synergies while providing a baseline from which significant expansion is anticipated.
